From 23 November 2015 to 6 January 2016, the Sala delle Colonne of the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze will host the 32nd edition of the Annual Exhibition of the “Il Bisonte” School. On display forty works by 21 young Italian and foreign artist-engravers, of which four in residence: the Egyptian Moataz Nasr, the Americans Alain Reid and Lola Montes Schnabel (in collaboration with Villa Lena Palaia), the Turkish Erman Özbaşaran (in collaboration with Robert F. Kennedy Foundation Florence). By participating in seminars and workshops of lithography, xylography, screen printing and comparing with the already established artists, printers-artisans, scholars and experts in graphics, both Italian and foreign, who every day gravitate around the Bisonte, these new promises of graphics they were able to deepen their knowledge of intaglio techniques and above all experiment them. Also on display is a selection of lithographs by some masters of the twentieth century: Ardengo Soffici, Pietro Annigoni, Henry Moore, Lynn Chadwick, Renato Guttuso, Carlo Carrà, who worked on the Bisonte printing house, and the works of the artists Rodolfo Ceccotti, Manuel Ortega and Vincenzo Burlizzi, current teachers of the School.
The exhibition will also be an opportunity to see the prints “Procession made in Florence in the coming of the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary of Impruneta on May 21, 1711” and the “View of the Piazza del Real Palazzo dei Pitti, in the time that there was placed the Miraculous image of the Virgin Mary of Impruneta on May 21, 1711 “, made by Bisonte, of the slabs of Cosimo Mogalli (Florence 1667 – 1730) owned by the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze and currently in storage at the Museum of Art Sacra dell’Impruneta, and the press, now owned by the institution, which belonged to Luciano Guarnieri (Florence 1930 – 2009), Pietro Annigoni’s favorite pupil.
