Il Bisonte gallery, via San Niccolò, 24r – Florence
The exhibition will remain open until February 19, 2016
with the following timetable: from Monday to Friday 9 – 13 and 15 – 19
Saturday and Sunday closed
The Il Bisonte Foundation opens 2016 with an exhibition of engravings by the Vicentine artist Bonizza Modolo. Over 30 graphics will be hosted in the gallery spaces, many of which will be made in the laboratories of the International School of Specialization for Art Graphics by the Bisonte.
Bonizza transmits passion and strength in his etchings; a constant rethinking in search of an almost orthodox graphic language tending to a balance between forms at times decidedly expressed, at other times emerging from an infinite interweaving of signs. Bonizza is one of the most significant and original interpreters of abstraction in the panorama of contemporary engraving in Italy.
The exhibition catalog, published by the Il Bisonte Foundation, will be accompanied by a critical text by Nicola Micieli.
Painter and engraver, Bonizza Modolo is the daughter of the painter Bepi Modolo. Bonizza began his artistic profession by attending the Vicenza School of Art and Crafts directed by Otello De Maria and has participated in numerous competitions and obtained significant awards. At the same time she cultivates her pictorial training in her father’s studio with whom she will later develop an important collaborative relationship in the stained glass sector, together with the brothers Michela and Piero, which will lead her to be present with her works in various churches throughout the country. She is very active in the field of engraving, where she trained at the Free Nude School of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice under the guidance of Quaresimin, Dugo, Fantinato, Ferrara. At the International School of Graphics in Venice he follows courses in traditional and experimental techniques with Riccardo Licata, in the artist’s book with Andreas Kramer, and in Hayter technique with Hector Saunier, with whom he will have the opportunity to continue the experience at the Centro della Graphics of Via 7 Dolori in Matera.
He deepens the etching technique at the Il Bisonte International School in Florence. For a decade he attended painting courses at the Internationale Sommerakademie in Salzburg. She was a member of the Venetian Engravers Association and is included in the repertoire of Italian engravers of Bagnacavallo. He has held personal exhibitions and numerous are his participations in international exhibitions. In 2010 he received the 1st prize for Graphics at the Asolo International Art Biennial.
