It’s time for 𝗦𝗣π—₯π—œπ—‘π—š π—ͺ𝗒π—₯π—žπ—¦π—›π—’π—£π—¦ at Il Bisonte! Every Saturday of May discover a new printmaking technique and create your artworks πŸ’™
The workshop starts on Saturday 7 May with the Lithography on Zinc workshop, a fascinating technique with a flat matrix perfect for reproducing writings, drawings and photographs on zinc plates.
Lithographic printing is based on a phenomenon known since ancient times, namely the incompatibility between water and fatty substances. For this reason it is not necessary to engrave the matrix but only to leave a graphic mark on it, drawing on the plate with pencils, chalks or lithographic inks applied with a brush, pad, spray or watercolor.
The lithographic process is also the basis of the Gum Print or Paper Litography workshop to be held on Saturday 21 May.
Born in the 1960s in the United States within the Xerox Art movement, this non-toxic technique mimics the process of lithography using gum arabic, water, toner prints, and oil-based chalcographic ink to reproduce well-contrasted images and obtain a vintage effect, almost rarefied.
On May 14th and 28th explore the boundary between light and shadow to shape your art projects in the two cyanotype workshops.
Cyanotype is a technique of early photography that exploits the photosensitivity of non-toxic iron salts such as potassium ferricyanide and ammoniacal ferric citrate. By placing a negative between ultraviolet light and a sheet of paper on which the solution of ferric salts has been applied, a photographic image characterized by the typical blue color is produced.
However, the Prussian blue badge can be turned to obtain prints in shades of brown and ocher.
For those who have already participated in the first cyanotype workshop, the workshop on May 28 will be dedicated to tackling the various techniques of colors turning with tannic acid,Β in order to obtain works that convey an ancient and more realistic feeling.
